Strawberry and cream Swiss Roll | Cake | Valentines Day Special


Hello People, wish you all a very happy Valentines day. I am sure you all have your plan to enjoy this day of love. Today me and my friends are planing a surprise potluck valentines eve party for our husbands.( I am sure it isn't really a surprise) But yes we have decided two dishes each and as usual i get the dessert  & a savory too. I asked my friend to give a little idea as to what should i make (well, i just wanted an idea) damn friend made is difficult for me she wanted the dessert to be in red or pink in colour & may be a few hearts in it...phew these valentine days!!! well to cut the story short i made this strawberry Swiss roll/log. This is my first ever attempt and it came out pretty well. Proud of myself :) Infact my mum would make them quite often when i was a kid and somehow i remembered how she used to do it. (the rolling and the works)





Strawberry cream the most loved and easy to do combination. And of course perfect for the valentine day.(yippee i did think of something PINK !!)


Makes - 01 Swiss roll
Time - 1 hr approx
Temp - 180 C



Ingredients

For the cake
  • 03 Eggs
  • 01 Cup - Sugar
  • 3/4th Cup - Hot water
  • 01 tsp - Vanilla essence
  • 3/4th Cup - Flour
  • 01 tsp - Baking powder
For the strawberry and cream filling
  • 100 grms - Fresh strawberries (about 5-6)
  • 200 ml - Cream
  • 04 tbsp - Powder sugar

Method
  1. Preheat oven at 180 C. Line and grease Swiss rill tin/baking tray. keep aside.
  2. Beat eggs until thick and fluffy. Add sugar spoon by spoon and keep beating constantly.
  3. Add water & vanilla essence. 
  4. Fold in the flour and baking powder.
  5. Pour the batter into d tin and spread evenly. Bake foe 15 mins.
  6. Take out the cake and remove the paper. Cut out the edges. Rol the cake in a kitchen towel and leave it to cool.
  7. Now for the filling - Whip the cream add sugar.Whip till soft peaks form.
  8. Make a paste of the fresh strawberries and mix it along with the cream. Let it rest in the fridge for sometime till its firm.
  9. Unroll the cake and spread the cream mixture & a few choco chips and gently roll it back. Spread the remaining strawberry and cream on top of the roll . Decorate as desired
